The appointment of Bourmistrov took place during University of The 
Arctic's jubilee conference in Rovaniemi last week. The conference 
marked the 10th anniversary of this circumpolar organisation being 
founded.
Sustainable growth in The Arctic
At the conference Anataoli Bourmistrov also had the opportunity to 
debate the opportunities for sustainable economic growth with Iceland's 
president Olafur Ragnar Grimsson. This happened during the conference's 
final session, in which Bourmistrov took part in the expert panel 
together with President Grimsson, Eva Pongracz, Thule Institute at 
University of Oulu (Finland), Nicolas Bertrand, Secretary of the 
Convention on Biological Diversity (Switzerland), and Mikhail A. 
Pogodaev, Assocaition of World Reindeer Herders (Russia). The Icelandic 
president also held one of the key-note presentations at the conference.
Monica Brobakk (Head of International Office), Marit Sundet 
(Associate Professor) at The Faculty of Social Sciences and Eivind 
Karlsen (Assistant Professor) at The Faculty of Social Sciences also 
represented University of Nordland at The UArctic jubilee meeting in 
Rovaniemi, Finland.

 of Nordland, Bodø Graduate School of Business has been appointed leader
 of a researcher group which will investigate the possibilities for new 
educational and research projects within the "Green Growth in The 
Arctic" concept.
