Thematic Network leader Timo Koivurova, of the Arctic Centre, University
of Lapland has emphasized that the network can play a strong role in
providing input to key assessment processes in the Arctic Council, as
well as initiating a number of new project ideas and potential Masters
programs. Vice-leader Leena will represent the Thematic Network in the Arctic Legal Conference in Salekhard, Russia, in October 2012.

One of UArctic's newest Thematic Networks, Arctic Law, has wasted no time in kick starting its activities. Following its approval by the Council of the University of the Arctic in June, the network has approved its action plan and established its own website. The network was very active in the recent fourth 'Akureyri Polar Law Symposium', this time held in Nuuk, Greenland.
