WAAE Summit 2012: Cultural Encounters and Northern Reflections

The World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE) and the University of Lapland host a global gathering of arts educators at the most northerly university in the European Union from 7.11.2012–9.11.2012. The event will be organized in association with the Institute for Northern Culture and the University of the Arctic Thematic Network on Arctic Sustainable Art and Design.

The meeting discusses arts education informed by diverse global perspectives such as those from the Arctic rim.

The focus of this summit includes:

Sharing international arts education research on pedagogy, curriculum, cultural sustainability and community engagement
Reviewing and developing the WAAE alliance and strategic plans within the areas of Research, Advocacy, Networking
Advancing understanding of UNESCO’s Seoul Agenda: Goals for Arts Education
