Today was the third and last day of the UArctic Assembly 2023. You can read the decisions that were made today below. 

In tandem with the opening of the legislative session in January, the University of Alaska released the first in a series of informational reports to aid state leaders as Alaska confronts a rapidly changing Arctic and the increasingly globalized North.

The second day of the UArctic Assembly 2023 involved decisions about finances, new Thematic Networks, the UArctic Nominations Committee as well as Friends of UArctic. You can read the decisions that were made from here.

The UArctic Entrepreneurship Fund is a new initiative that is open to any individual with an incubator-stage product or service that aims to benefit the Arctic environment or Arctic communities and has a positive, demonstrable impact on the Arctic.

Thematic Network "Health and Well-being in the Arctic" invites anyone interested to join the Circumpolar Maternal and Child Health workshop by Zoom. The title of the workshop in "Research and Values Based Health Services and Culture Informed Care in Circumpolar Maternal Health"

Doris Dicker, Shannon Dicker and Colleen Pottle are Inuit educators with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District in northern Labrador. Ola Andersen and Sarah Townley are retired Inuit teachers.

The UArctic Assembly 2023 is being held May 22-26 in Québec City, Canada. The meeting is hosted by Université Laval. The meeting brings together over 100 participants from across UArctic’s membership.

The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for a Master’s student in Quaternary geology/glaciology. This two- to three-year position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The UArctic Assembly 2023 hosted by Université Laval in Québec City has kicked off with a day of pre-meetings and a scenic boat tour on the St. Lawrence River. 

UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Academia Borealis - The Academy of Sciences and Letters of Northern Norway, and Tromsø Research Foundation welcome nominations for The International Mohn Prize for Outstanding Research Related to the Arctic (The Mohn Prize).

The Journal assocated with the Institute of Arctic and Alpine research (INSTAAR) at the University of Colorado, Boulder – the Journal of Arctic, Antarctic and Alpine Research released a special issue focusing on Ecosystem Services, Sustainable Development, and Socio-Ecological Health in Arctic and Cold Region Environments.

UArctic is searching for motivated and enthusiastic interns for the fall 2023 who are interested in Arctic matters and willing to acquire knowledge of the Northern region: its environment, people and culture.

The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in permafrost modeling. This fixed-term, three-year position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Organizers invite registration for the International Synoptic Arctic Survey (SAS) Synthesis 2023 Workshop. This workshop will convene 7-9 June 2023 at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
