The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI), in collaboration with Armando Editore, is pleased to announce the call for proposals for the upcoming volume "Artico: il Vicino Nord" ("The Arctic: The Near North"), edited by Alessandra Caruso. This book aims to explore the geopolitical, economic, and social dynamics of the Arctic region through a collection of original essays.
Interested authors are invited to submit a detailed proposal, specifying the chapter of interest, a brief biography, and an abstract of the contribution (max 500 words) by March 7th, 2025, through this website.
This volume offers readers a unique perspective on the Arctic's distinctiveness, guiding them through the historical, political, economic, and social transformations of the region. Through eight case studies—one per Arctic country—readers will gain insights into Arctic identity and the global implications of transpolar dynamics. The book examines geopolitical tensions, territorial sovereignty disputes, transpolar trade dilemmas, Indigenous Peoples' dynamics, mineral resources, and climate change, offering a compelling analysis that extends beyond the 66th parallel North and influences international politics.
