It was a blast when partners of the three year Interreg NPA funded project ArcticSewlutions got the chance to meet and discuss wastewater solutions with Greenlandic municipalities in Sisimiut, Greenland in beginning of April 2025.

Here, at our first workshop of three, the aim was to gather inputs from stakeholders for which information they wish us to include in our upcoming catalog about wastewater treatment methods engaged in the northernmost, and thus most challenging part of the NPA region. Indeed, information about economy and practical experiences are highly requested, as this kind of information is often hard to get hands on. Three of five Greenlandic municipalities participated on site, while we had online discussions with a fourth. The discussions gave us great insights into the Greenlandic challenges that include unpiped rural communities.

We initiated the workshop with short and highly inspiring snapshot presentations of solutions applied in the NPA region, which the 30 participating students also enjoyed and made good use of in their affiliated assignments.
During the days in Sisimiut we also had a partner meeting discussing the upcoming field campaigns, sampling strategies and analytical program, and the local partners even got the chance to do a preliminary sewage sampling event, involving quite a bit of snow shoveling.
