The book will be published by Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group) in 2025.
This publication was conceptualized and developed in response to key insights and discussions emerging from two significant events organized by the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Migration:
- The session titled “Embracing Diversity: The Future of Immigrant Communities in the Arctic” was organized during the Arctic Congress 2024 in Bodø.
- The International Symposium on Combating Radicalization, Racism, and Hate Speech Against Immigrants, held on May 23-24, 2024, in Rovaniemi, Finland
These programs highlighted urgent challenges and critical opportunities facing immigrant populations in the Arctic, including integration, social equity, discrimination, and community resilience, forming the intellectual foundation for this book.

- Examines immigrant experiences in Arctic environments through social, legal, economic, cultural, and gendered lenses.
- Addresses critical questions of opportunity, marginalization, and the impact of structural inequalities.
- Analyzes the rise of right-wing narratives around migration and explores youth-specific vulnerabilities.
- Features comparative case studies from Finland, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Sweden, and Lithuania, with additional global perspectives.
- Provides practical policy recommendations to foster more inclusive and just immigration systems across European Arctic regions.
